Eviction Defense

Housing is a human right, and the loss of a home can lead to cycles of poverty that are exceedingly difficult to recover from. We provide coordinated services for benefits access, offering rapid assistance with rent to clients who are behind on payments based on the individual circumstances of each case.

Our teams of caring navigators and lawyers are passionately committed to keeping our clients in their homes. CED Law attorneys provide free legal representation in eviction proceedings, negotiate with landlords, and connect clients with emergency rental assistance.

Foreclosure Prevention

We provide financial assistance for households at risk of or in the midst of a foreclosure. Our team helps you understand your options, connects you with legal support through CED Law, and works to keep you in your home.

While progress has been made in the fight for homeowner rights, laws related to housing tend to be weighted in favor of lenders, leaving residents to fight an uphill battle in a complex legal system. Our work ensures clients know their rights and have the resources they need to pursue a just outcome.

Towing Recovery

Predatory towing can push families into eviction. CEDP helped write Colorado's Towing Bill of Rights (HB22-1314) and subsequent reforms (HB24-1051). We can help you recover your vehicle, challenge unfair towing charges, and know your rights.

Our investigation into Colorado's private property towing industry exposed systemic abuses and led to the $1M Wyatts Towing settlement through the Colorado Attorney General's office.

Debt Defense

When disaster strikes, CEDP deploys rapid emergency housing assistance, financial navigation, and legal aid. We've responded to wildfires, floods, and other natural disasters across Colorado — and are expanding into New Mexico.

Our clients shouldn't have to shop around for what they need, navigating a disconnected, overly complex system while already in crisis. Just Bus — Mobile Legal Aid

The Just Bus brings CEDP's full suite of services directly to rural and disaster-affected communities across Colorado. Funded by $840K in federal appropriations secured by Congressman Jason Crow, the Just Bus deploys navigators and legal aid to communities that can't reach our offices.

CARE Center

The CARE Center is CEDP's single point of contact for all services. When you call (303) 838-1200, a navigator assesses your situation and connects you with the right support — legal, financial, or both. No bouncing between agencies. No repeating your story. One call, all services.

What happens when you call:

• A trained navigator answers and assesses your situation
• You're connected to the right program: eviction defense, foreclosure, towing, debt, or resources
• If you need legal help, CED Law attorneys are assigned directly
• If you need financial help, emergency assistance is processed rapidly
• Bilingual services available in English and Spanish

Pet Deposit Assistance — District 10

The Denver Pet Deposit Assistance Program provides a one-time $300 pet deposit to help tenants in Denver City Council District 10 keep their pets and access safe, stable housing.

Too many renters face the heartbreaking choice of giving up a pet because they can't afford a pet deposit. This program aims to prevent that. It is a partnership between Councilmember Chris Hinds, the Community Economic Defense Project, and local and national animal welfare organizations committed to keeping families and their pets together.

Who qualifies?

• You have a pet you are at risk of needing to rehome because you cannot afford the pet deposit required by a landlord
• You currently live in, or are moving to, Denver City Council District 10
